Who is Ajit Doval?

Ajit Kumar Doval is the 5th National Security Advisor (NSA) of India, serving for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was the chief of Intelligence Bureau (IB) from 2004-2005 and Indian Police Services (IPS) officer from Kerala. Worked as an undercover spy of IB for one year in Pakistan and then 6 years as an officer in Indian High Commission in Islamabad. He has spent most of his career life as a spy for the Intelligence Bureau (IB). His successful operation as a spy and the intelligence head includes rescue of 46 Indian nationals in Iraq, operation versus Nagaland militant, operation black thunder in 1988.

Award an honorary doctorate in science from Agra University in May 2017. He received an honorary doctorate in Literature from Kumaun University in May 2018. Later again he received an honorary doctorate in Philosophy from Amity University.

IPS and Intelligence Career

In 196, Doval Sir joined Indian Police Services (IPS)in Kerala cadre, as the ASP . Later, he was post in north-east India. He was a spy of Intelligence Bureau (IB) and lived for seven years in Pakistan. Doval was actively involve in the anti-insurgency operation in Punjab. He has experience of being involve in the termination of all 15 hijackings of Indian Airways from 1971 to 1999. During the operation in 1988, he was infiltrate into the golden temple acting as an ISI agent. In which Doval helps to gather information about the weapons and prepares the map of their position. It helps the National Security Guards (NSG) to win the golden temple. Surgical strike on Pakistan in 2016 was part of Doval’s ‘offensive defense strategy’. Ajit Doval was include into the several missions of India.        

Post-Retirement

In 2005, Doval retired as a director of the Intelligence Bureau. He became the founding director of Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) in December 2009. Doval was actively involve in the discussions on national security in India. He used to write editorials for several leading newspapers and journals. He has also delivered lectures on foreign policy and Indian security challenges in various renowned government and non government institutions. Doval wrote two reports in 2009 and 2011 on “Indian Black Money Abroad in Secret Banks and Tax Havens”. In 2012, Doval came into the eye of the Intelligence Bureau due to the ruling party Congress suspicions on Doval. They think he and VIF were the people behind Ramdev and Anna Hazare led anti-corruption movement.      

National Security Advisor

 Ajit Kumar Doval was appoint as a 5th National Security Advisor on 30 May 2014. In June 2014, he facilitated the return of 46 Indian nurses trapped in a hospital in Tikrit, Iraq. The hospital was capture from Mosul by ISIL. Seeing the situation, Doval flew to Iraq to understand the situation and had high-level contacts with the Iraqi government. On 3 June 2019, Doval was reappoint as a NSA for the next five years. Doval is count as one of the most trusted and powerful advisors in the Modi government.

4. He was granted one of the highest gallantry awards Kirti Chakra the first police officer to achieve a medal only given as a military honour.
